Project Spotlight – St. Augustine Boys & Girls Club
The Hardy Group, Inc. worked with the St Augustine Boys & Girls Club & The Players Championship to design and build a new facility to serve the kids of St Augustine about 5 years ago. The clubs design is very functional and serves as a learning center for the kids 6 to 18 from 2:30 pm to 7pm, Monday through Friday. The design consists of a teen room, art room, computer room, and a learning center. It also has an indoor gymnasium with 6 basketball courts and two volley ball courts. Outdoor activities include soccer, baseball and two basketball courts.
· The club is a community based model with a ratio of 1 staff per 20 members.
· Their services are available to every child regardless to income level.
· 90% of the club members are promoted to next grade level before summer school.
· 98% of the club members have not been involved in criminal activity.
· 100% of the club members have not become teen mothers.
Youths participate in academic enrichment and tutorial assistance in subjects across their grade levels, traditionally known as Project Learn. Other notable programs are:
· SMART Moves: a nationally acclaimed comprehensive prevention program helps young people resist alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use as well as premature sexual activity.
· SMART Girls & Passport to Manhood: a health, fitness, prevention/ education and self-esteem program for ages 8 thru 17. The program focuses on gender specific issues as designed to encourage healthy attitudes and lifestyles that will enable those members to develop to their full potential.

With assistance of our community partners some of our programs offered to youth at our club include: martial arts, baseball, dance programs, & music programs.
Through these programs, our aim is not only to save young lives to alternatives on the street, but to raise their sites and capabilities towards life at its best.
